Offerings

Our offerings are rooted in respect for Black and Indigenous communities, offering a diverse range of programs that encompass birth work, body work and spirit work.

Birth Work

Embracing the essence of rematriation, our Birth Work offerings  are dedicated to empowering daughters  during the transformative journey of childbirth and motherhood.

We honor ancestral birthing traditions, providing culturally sensitive and affirming support to ensure that the journey into sacred motherhood  is one of strength, resilience and connection to heritage.

  • Assata received her birth doula certification from Childbirth International in 2019 but her heart and foundation is in traditional Indigenous birthwork training from community parteras, which fuels our commitment to providing culturally and faith sensitive care. We seek to dismantle colonial narratives surrounding childbirth by providing holistic support, fostering an environment where traditional and contemporary birthing practices harmonize, as well as ensuring the mama feels seen, heard and valued. Your three prenatal visits will include a Blessingway ceremony and a childbirth class for you and one support person. In addition to labor and delivery support, you will receive one post delivery follow up which will include a breastfeeding session. You will receive birth plan support if needed as well as herbal medicines from the apothecary. Join us in reshaping the narrative of childbirth, where empowerment, cultural pride and respect for diverse birthing traditions converge. Our commitment is to stand alongside you, offering unwavering support and advocacy as you navigate the sacred journey of bringing new life into the world.

  • The first 40 days following birth, la cuarentena, are a sacred time for postpartum recovery. Utilizing traditional ancestral wisdom, this offering includes 40 days of breastfeeding support, traditional meals, herbal medicines, infant education and additional support tailored to the needs of your family in a nurturing and culturally sensitive environment. Each client is gifted a faja and rebozo as well as a closing the bones ceremony which can include a small group of friends/family. In the spirit of decolonization, we center the empowerment of postpartum mamas and families, recognizing their autonomy in decision-making and embracing diverse family structures. Our presence is one of compassionate guidance, practical assistance and emotional support as you navigate the sacred and transformative period of postpartum.

  • Rooted in the principles of respect, cultural sensitivity, and inclusivity, our breastfeeding counseling embraces the diverse experiences and traditions of breastfeeding families. We recognize the historical context of breastfeeding practices, seeking to dismantle colonial narratives and embrace ancestral wisdom. We celebrate the unique cultural identities surrounding breastfeeding, offering a space where mamas find practical solutions, personalized guidance, and emotional encouragement tailored to their cultural values. We provide hands-on demonstrations, incorporating traditional Black and Indigenous knowledge, and addressing specific cultural considerations. Whether it's exploring breastfeeding positions rooted in cultural practices, integrating traditional foods that support lactation, or understanding culturally influenced baby cues, our support is practical, inclusive, and tailored to your individual needs. We believe in reclaiming and reshaping the narrative of breastfeeding, where cultural pride, respect, and inclusivity are woven into the fabric of our counseling offerings. Our commitment is to provide tangible, culturally informed support, empowering you on your breastfeeding journey while honoring your individual choices every step of the way.

  • Designed for expectant mamas, this offering focuses on reclaiming and celebrating the innate strength and resilience within every pregnant body. We seek to empower expectant mamas to embrace their unique journey, free from external expectations and rooted in self-discovery. This decolonized Prenatal Yoga experience is an invitation to connect with your body and Spirit, fostering a sense of empowerment, cultural respect and deep self-awareness. Join us on this inclusive journey as we redefine and reclaim the sacred space of prenatal yoga as we seek to balance the Tridoṣas (Vāta, Pitta, Kapha) to promote overall well-being during this sacred phase of your life.

  • Engage in our Sacred Motherhood Classes, thoughtfully designed to respect and celebrate the diversity of our motherhood community. Beyond spiritual and emotional exploration, these classes offer hands-on, culturally relevant information and tools. From practical parenting skills to community resources, we create a nurturing space where mamas can share experiences, gain practical insights, and build a supportive network rooted in their unique journey.

Spirit Work

In alignment with our commitment to the sacred, our Spirit Work delves into the rich tapestry of Black and Indigenous and spiritual traditions.

Guided by the divine wisdom of Bismillah, these offerings give spaces for spiritual exploration, healing and the celebration of our diverse  faith traditions.

  • In these 60 minute sessions, we prioritize decolonized practices to celebrate the richness of storytelling and communal exchange, recognizing that each voice contributes to a collective narrative.  Pláticas offer a structured yet open environment for individuals to share, learn and connect. Through guided introspection, personalized rituals and culturally attuned coaching, we invite you to explore, celebrate and nurture your spiritual journey in a way that is authentic to you.   Through the use of sacred herbs, elements, and intention, Limpias are crafted to cleanse and renew the spiritual, mental, and emotional energy.

  • Our Full Moon Circles are an invitation for all who have experienced their first moontime (inclusive of everyone except cis-men) to connect in a Divine Feminine sacred space under the illumination of Grandmother Moon.  Full Moons illuminate everything around us and allow us to see situations and relationships from a clearer perspective which is why Full Moons are a time of letting go and releasing.  Cacao, celebrated as a plant medicine, holds the ability to unlock inner wisdom and foster deep introspection.  In our ceremonies, we honor the diverse cultural origins of cacao, acknowledging its sacred role in Indigenous traditions.  The power of cacao becomes a tool for cultural reclamation, a source of strength and a conduit for collective healing.   We begin each Full Moon Circle with hatha yoga to let go of the stress of the day so that we enter our sacred space present, centered and relaxed.  We then move into guided journaling with the opportunity to share what’s coming up for you and be witnessed by others if you choose to.  This all builds up to our fire ceremony  where we can literally watch what no longer serves us turn to ashes.  Each circle ends with a community meal and fellowship.

Body Work

These offerings embody the holistic connection between the physical and spiritual, grounded in the understanding of the body as a sacred vessel.
