The Earth & Sky Collective Fund is a grassroots mutual aid fund dedicated to empowering Black and Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit peoples. We are committed to creating a community-based network that supports our most vulnerable members, recognizing that our liberation and well-being are essential to the health of our broader communities. By drawing on the strength of ancestral wisdom, cultural traditions, and shared values, Earth & Sky Collective Fund seeks to build a future where all can thrive with dignity, security and love.

Our name, Earth & Sky, symbolizes the sacred balance between grounding and aspiring, the dual forces that sustain life. The earth represents our roots, history and traditions, reminding us of our resilience and strength. The sky symbolizes hope, freedom and limitless potential. Together, they reflect our commitment to nurturing the collective well-being of Black and Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit people by providing support grounded in solidarity, compassion and love.

Mutual aid is a community-driven approach to support that emphasizes solidarity over charity. Unlike traditional charitable organizations that operate from a top-down model, mutual aid is rooted in the principles of collective care, reciprocity and direct action. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors, without the barriers of bureaucracy or the expectation of something in return. Mutual aid recognizes that we all have needs, and we all have something to give.

At its core, mutual aid is about **building relationships** based on mutual trust and accountability. It’s a practice that goes beyond simply providing for immediate needs; it’s about **reimagining systems of care and support** to be more inclusive, just and equitable. In mutual aid, everyone contributes what they can and receives what they need, breaking down the isolation and disconnection that are often perpetuated by systemic inequities.

For centuries, Black and Indigenous communities have relied on mutual aid as a means of survival in the face of oppression, colonialism and systemic racism. From the Underground Railroad to Native potlatch ceremonies, mutual aid has been a powerful tool for resistance and resilience. It is a legacy of survival, self-determination and community care that we are honored to continue.

Today, the challenges faced by Black and Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit peoples, particularly in the wake of the recent election, are immense. Our communities experience higher rates of poverty, violence and discrimination, compounded by the impacts of systemic racism, misogyny and transphobia. The COVID-19 pandemic, environmental injustices and the ongoing struggles for land sovereignty and civil rights have only exacerbated these inequities. Traditional support systems often fail to address these unique needs, leaving many of us to fall through the cracks.

This is where Earth & Sky Collective Fund steps in. We believe that the solutions to these challenges already exist within our communities. By harnessing the power of mutual aid, we can support one another in meaningful ways, ensuring that no one is left behind. We are dedicated to redistributing resources directly to those who need them most, without the barriers and stigma often associated with charity.

Through this fund, we will provide no-strings-attached financial assistance to Black and Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit peoples facing financial hardship, whether due to healthcare needs, housing insecurity or other urgent expenses. This will provide rapid response funding for those impacted by any unexpected crises, such as natural disasters, medical emergencies, or acts of violence.

The Earth & Sky Collective Fund provides a meaningful avenue for those who are disillusioned with current political events and are seeking tangible ways to make a positive impact. Many people are looking for ways to support marginalized communities directly, especially in times of heightened social and political tension.
